The Endless Setlist
November 23, 2025

While I've been keeping up my real instrument practice decently well since I got it (I can now play "Where is My Mind?" fairly cleanly, so that's cool), I still had plastic instruments to finish up business with. Rock Band 2 is a gigantic game, with 84 songs in total and dozens of setlists to burn through arranging those songs in various orders. The last one in the game is The Endless Setlist, which has you playing all 84 in a row, starting with the easiest songs and ending with the hardest. Read more

Dive In
October 28, 2025

October's been a tricky month for me. It's been hard adjusting back to life at home, and more often than not, I've just felt like people don't really need to see more from lil old me, really. I started just playing PS2 games all day instead, and that was cool, but I knew I had to get back on the horse sooner or later. (It calls to me. It goes "neigh neigh" in the night.) I've also been having really irritating, bruised soreness in my writing hand thumb from a tendon issue (exacerbated by Read more

Some funky wunky Japanese PS1 memory cards
October 16, 2025

I'm still working on getting all systems going again. Alas, I cannot blame it on a Skin Condition thanks to my filthy house or the Incorrect Medication That I Said Was The Correct Medication After The Other Incorrect Medication, I just gotta wake up and do some shit. Let's funpost! Here's some PS1 memory cards I bought. Anyone who's seriously played a decent chunk of the PS1's library knows that one memory card doesn't really cut it. You get 15 "blocks" on one, which adds up to 128KB of total Read more

A little more time with you
August 17, 2025

The last week dawns! Actually, this is the last five days in Wales or so. It's not quite hit me yet. Obviously it's sad, especially given that I've been here so long that I really do just feel like part of Caby's family now. I've gotten interrupted three times in making this post, once by Pokémon Puzzle Challenge, but once to chat Top Gear with her mom and another to chat about Quake and Valve games with her dad. Everyone save the guinea pigs has started up an hour plus long conversation with Read more

Wales 2025 dawns
July 02, 2025

We're into the final two weeks before this year's trip to Wales! We've already bought most everything I'm bringing, including the vintage digicam for good measure. (I drunk bought another AOL PhotoCam a couple days ago for cheap, though fully working with pictures showing it powered on and in-box, so that'll be arriving tomorrow as well. What can I say? Fourth time's the charm.) Now all that's left to do is wait. If you're not following the RSS feeds for my album reviews and game reviews, go do Read more

Quake II
January 01, 2025

Happy new year to everyone reading my journal! I have a really good feeling about 2025. Like, really good. There was a lot to be proud of last year, but just as often, I learned I was just as sick if not a little more as the people around me, and, at my worst, I feel like I neglected my friends and my girlfriend. I forgot that, if you want good times, you have to make them. No one can do that for you or to you. It wasn't on purpose or anything, but that doesn't mean it's right. Thankfully, Read more

New Year's Eve marfGH stream!
December 30, 2024

Hey, I'm busy preparing art for the stream tomorrow and listening to Semisonic (life comes at you fast), but promise you'll be there? We'll be showing off marfGH features and brand new charts publicly for the first time ever, and I'll be doing it on my real PS2 with a guitar I've been practicing with for a couple weeks now. It'll be a real good time. Be there. Come hang out. Watch me barely be able to play Expert. Read more

The magic of MX4SIO
December 14, 2024

The Canada Post strike really disrupted me more than it probably should have. There was almost a year of building excitement for those Last Summer CDs, and all the time I spent drawing things for them, only to see the ones for Savannah and Connor freeze three days after I send them right along the border. Almost a month later and they still haven't moved. I had journal posts about putting it all together ready to go that I just wasn't able to post. I was gonna put the last dozen copies or so up Read more

Abyss of Pandemonium
October 11, 2024

Summing up impel impel is funny. It doesn't officially count for a mission pack, and you can tell because it uses all custom textures that mimic the textures of the original game. This was common for unofficial paid expansions back in the day—you weren't redistributing id's stuff just because your levels worked with Quake, but the textures you use in a level get embedded into the level file, and if you're using id's textures, that is their property. As a result, Aftershock for Quake and the Read more

Dissolution of Eternity
October 10, 2024

Whoops! I meant to have this posted days ago! Sorry to leave you all hanging on the next installment of "Cammy reviews Quake mission packs", but such is life. I'm busy and I worked a nine hour shift today. Summing up rogue I was pleasantly surprised—I remember hearing from somewhere that Dissolution of Eternity was the one with all the annoying traps, but it was a pretty smooth playthrough throughout. hipnotic is definitely the objectively better pack, but rogue is fun too. One of the most Read more
