I return home. The trip was, and I don't say this lightly, life-changing. Genuinely phenomenal stuff. Wales was so nice, her family was so nice, the guinea pigs were adorably moody, the museums were nice, wandering Cardiff was a ton of fun, we're even better in person than we could've imagined—my god, I can fill paragraphs with how good it was. Literally before it was over we were checking flight prices for January so we can spend our next anniversary together too (and I can enjoy some Welsh Read more
My suitcase is packed on the floor. Whatever goes in carry-on is still scattered about my bed and my desk. I'm leaving the house around 1 tomorrow, and the plane departs at 5:30. I'm gonna be up late and sleep in to have the best possible chance of not being quite as exhausted when I arrive in London Thursday morning. (And then we go back to Not-London Friday evening. Ahem.) If I knew I was quitting my job, I'd be gone for a month instead of three weeks. That's what I get for booking Read more
For those of you who have access to the testing version of this site, I've gotten all the old scorekeeping pages back up in the underground section and updated (rewritten the text, added the new scores where relevant). I'll link them here for those folks. (I'm still really fond of that Minesweeper page, that's a classic.) Header images are the holdup for the rest of you. I'll get back to drawing tonight, maybe. Honestly, save for the photo galleries and the little Nobody's Watching tribute (and Read more
I walked out last night. It was a guy asking my manager "and what will be done about" me after I gave him a stupid answer for a stupid question. And after he loudly and obnoxiously sang in my section for twenty minutes straight. And after I'd already gotten two aggressive customers that shift. I'd already put in my two weeks on the 29th, but I've been coming into work every day wondering who would try to fuck with me that day, a manager or a customer, and $12 an hour is not worth that level of Read more
Dude weed lmao The final draft of Kevin and Theo wrapped on Tuesday! Bunch new scenes in it, things are better fleshed out, they make more sense, and characters and dialogue just hit better, more vibrantly, more sensically. Much happier with the new draft. We did agree to go through and switch all the US spellings and names for stuff to their British equivalents, but I'm gonna let her do that, because I don't know the full extent of what I'm looking for. Caby's nearly done with her Read more
Jesus, stuff got busy! I'm a bit better about updating this journal, but so much is going on that I always come home ready to rest instead of report in on the day's events. It's all been seriously fantastic, though, this spring is shaping up to be the best in a long time. Here's a small recap... Got my KTN! In like, two days tops. Thanks, government, thought that'd take a while.
Flight booked, I'll be gone May 17th to June 7th. I got it for a damn good price, just under $750 including Read more
Well, I'm now a felon. I got fingerprinted and everything yesterday. Not quite. I went for my TSA PreCheck stuff! Was an hour drive both ways for five minutes of being run through paperwork, getting my prints taken (with a cool tablet!), and paying. Yay for our nearest IdentoGo not doing TSA stuff. Either way, I'll know my KTN in a few days, hopefully, and then the flight will be scheduled. I'll then have concrete dates for the trip to hand out. The excitement is starting to build. So many Read more
I blew through all 300 pages of Masters of Doom yesterday. Go read it, it's fucking fantastic. Aside from it being consistently fascinating, funny, and getting me to wanna drop everything to load up TrenchBroom several times, I really found John Carmack's continued insistence that happiness is a closet with a computer, a Coke, and a good pizza amazingly relatable. I mean, I don't eat quite that badly, but I'm a simple boy. I want my Caby, I want financial comfort, and I want to be able to Read more
I expect nobody but the Somnolians to read it and I am more than happy about that. Apparently a good chunk of my store knows about this site. That's a thing. I didn't think I'd end off tonight hearing about how popular "Cammy's Island" is, won't lie. (Was probably because I was putting the URL on all my drawings—I'm slow.) This means that my manager was indeed reading about me shittalking him on this weird basic HTML site I made with my personal journal on it. I don't know if he's still Read more
Boy, I think that last post deserves an update! There's been some spicy new developments, all for the positive, and I'll have to start a new journal page if I wait any longer. Came into work on Thursday to as close to an apology you'll get from a two-faced ratfuck manager (and I'm not the only one there who thinks of him like that). "I was driving home that night, and I realized that you were really just doing what you were told." Yuh-huh, boyo. "Neither of us were necessarily wrong." Correct Read more
