The 2025 trip diary is live! I had a couple pages to finish on this trip, plus the header to draw, which I finished sketching out last night and I am very proud of given how much interactions between lads are a struggle to draw still. I gotta! It's me and my Caby.
The 2026 diary will not be anywhere near as in-depth as this, but I've got a plan for it that won't resemble the other ones at all. I'm pleased that each of the trip diaries, given how samey "I visit the same girl in the same place" could've potentially been, have very different feels to them, partially from structure and partially because I used a different camera each time. They feel true to each trip as well—and it's just nice to let you guys finally see the photos I took at, say, the Kingston retrocomputing exhibit, or Margam Park, or about London. We get up to a lot! A lot of great memories on these trips.
This also marks a really big moment for cammy.somnol and for me creatively. Aside from the Elsewhere section (which is its own can of worms), this is the first time cammy.somnol has been completely free of redlinks. Back in 2022, when I started ripping all the insulation out of the walls of both my sites and reworking them, I had a mental list of new pages I wanted to make and old pages from cammy_v1 that I wanted to either get moved and accounted for elsewhere or brought to the new site. To say something would eventually be there, I marked them as wiki-style redlinks and had those specific pages redirect 501 Not Implemented.
They're all implemented now. Everything is in its right place. Four long years of being dissatisfied with both sites and wanting to redo stuff, edit stuff, redraw stuff, and figure out what each should be are finally over. Not just pages—marfGH: Volume 0 finally got the overhaul I wanted to do to it before I left. From today onwards, I can focus my efforts solely on exciting new things, not trying to play catchup from all the years of feeling wayward over lockdowns or redoing site graphics because they're amateurish in a way that itches me. It's all settled. I am free.
I do have some things to post here, mail from friends and plenty of art, and I certainly will in the coming days. For now, I just wanna let anyone strolling through who isn't already aware that I am currently participating in Art Fight 2026! (You'll need an account to see my profile—sorry, not my rule.) It's a little funny with Caby and I both sharing one tablet for the moment, but for the last third of the event, I'll be back home at my normal setup and that should speed me up some.
I'm aiming for this, like I felt 2024 killed my momentum, for this to be the event that brings me back up to drawing regularly. I've already been experimenting a little with how I draw and trying to speed the process up some. Been lovely so far! More to come :craig:
Okay, I'm gonna go for sushi now, I'm hungry.
