Of course, right as I switch to using a journal engine that can be automatically posted to the group chat through a bot, we start toying with another chat service where our resident chat bot doesn't quite work right... oh well! I was warming up with my own tablet again drawing a Setter last night, and he wound up becoming a site graphic for a page I made before I left, a behind-the-scenes look at how I make cammy.somnol and some of the aesthetic choices for why I've made it the way I have. I'm Read more
I mentioned the other day I was looking at a flat-file, low-overhead PHP blogging platform called HTMLy as a way to automate a bunch of shit for this journal. We're on it, baby. Lemme explain in slightly less hurried, delirious detail why I've chosen to do so. So before now, all journal posts were written as raw HTML directly into Notepad++. No AutoSite, no automation at all, just what I wrote is what you see. That worked fine, but it became a gradually bigger pain in the ass month after month. Read more
For those of you who have access to the testing version of this site, I've gotten all the old scorekeeping pages back up in the underground section and updated (rewritten the text, added the new scores where relevant). I'll link them here for those folks. (I'm still really fond of that Minesweeper page, that's a classic.) Header images are the holdup for the rest of you. I'll get back to drawing tonight, maybe. Honestly, save for the photo galleries and the little Nobody's Watching tribute (and Read more
Basically spent all day in FireAlpaca, because I want to bring you more pages! Here's the first one for the underground section, comparing the outputs of seven different MP3 encoders and explaining why seven programs that all say they do the same thing come up with completely different results. It's a spergy rabbit hole, but hey, there's cute animal people. Everyone wins. (It's one from the old site, but the text has been completely redone and there's a new song being compared. Give it another Read more
And the aboveground/belowground update is complete. I held out for months because of that aboveground graphic with Bunny and Setter (drawing my girl! scary!), but then I came up with an even cuter and most importantly simpler way to draw it and now I adore it. I've actually got site content for you finally! This is the first section I completed for the site, a look into all of my consoles and tech gadgets as the list grows, and it's been done for, again, months, just sitting and waiting to be Read more
Jesus, stuff got busy! I'm a bit better about updating this journal, but so much is going on that I always come home ready to rest instead of report in on the day's events. It's all been seriously fantastic, though, this spring is shaping up to be the best in a long time. Here's a small recap... Got my KTN! In like, two days tops. Thanks, government, thought that'd take a while.
Flight booked, I'll be gone May 17th to June 7th. I got it for a damn good price, just under $750 including Read more
Let it be known that I am still a fantastic worker. When the truck guys are telling you you killed a delivery, you killed a delivery. I know it's just grocery store work, but it was also three pallets of way too much wine I did all on my own. I carry that fucking department. I set up a WAMP stack on my home server (which consists of a netbook :marf:) to serve up a beta version of cammy.somnol, for my use and to prove to friends I really am working on cool shit for this site. I hesitate to link Read more
DeviantART started doing wacky shit with the front page, and if I can't even use it to passively browse art, it's really not worth my time at all. I'm ready to drop it. Kicked my ass into gear working on a little mari.somnol section I've had in my head for months now: my art gallery. Have a peek in glorious 800x600: I'm really pleased with this. I've got it all hooked up to AutoSite and that Mac OS 8 look is just wonderful. I might stealth upload it to mari.somnol (as in, have it online but Read more
I alluded to archiving some of my project sites last year, and I finally got to doing that. Misery Inspires and my Gopher Repository are now on archives. It makes me happy that I got to make them happen, Misery Inspires especially (fuzzy high school memories with that band), but in two years, it'll have been ten since Better Nature came out. They have a new record out and I still haven't heard it, let alone read any of the press with it. I start too many projects, and it feels good to finally Read more
There's some pages and stuff I've been working on that I really ought to get out soon, I just have to finish up some navigational illustrations for them first. Have a sneak peek at one, plus the new way the site will be organized: Drawing your site is tough, man. But rewarding! Highly proud of that guitar. Read more
