My first Protoweb restoration in almost two years is live! This one's for the early Opera Software site. I go over all the gooey details in the linked Protoblog entry, but all I can say is that this has been a long time coming, I'm excited to be back helping out a good project, and I'm glad to finally have those fucking Opera installers out of my Downloads folder.
My plan is to complete a restoration each month. I know I can work way quicker than that, but I think this is a good goal to aim for so as to a) not burn out and b) not be monopolized by niche vintage website restoration stuff that can only be seen using a retro browser with the right proxy setup. That said, I have been interested in helping Protoweb in other ways, namely shoring up their documentation and starting a Protoweb-exclusive "restoration tales" blog for any interested users to learn more about the process (I'd read it, and I'm the main character). A lot of this is stuff I thought up back in 2024, but I had to stop being a baby to put in motion.
Okay, time to do something other than stare at Notepad++ for another five hours...
